Why Microsoft Bing Sucks!

I must ask myself, what in the world is going on with Microsoft Bing in the last few days. I know a few weeks ago, i posted a blog entry titled “How to get your site indexed by Microsoft Bing” , but since that post it seems as if Bing has just fallen apart. I have been checking Bing Webmaster tools, and it seems as if Bing just keeps dropping a few of my blog post pages every day. At first Bing started out indexing my pages great, then it just started dropping my pages. today, I log into my Bing Webmaster tools to find my site gone from the web master tools, and no where to be found in Bing search. This is absurd in my opinion! Even Live search was not this bad! What has Microsoft done with their search engine for petes sake.

Is this the future for Yahoo Search? If so, then this Bing powered Yahoo Search will be a complete diaster….Yahoo indexes my site just fine, Google picks up my pages in minutes. Bing on the other hand has been a total diaster! A complete and utter wreck. In my how to get indexed page, I listed the basic requirements to get any web site indexed. Bing should be capable of following these simple rules as the other search engines have for a very long time.

It seems to me in my personal observations that Bing hates blogs. For some reason or another Bing does not like blogs. I have no idea why. Google and Yahoo Slurp have no problem indexing my blog. Even Ask.com Teoma Crawler has no problems indexing this blog, and Ask, Google, and the current Yahoo slurp Crawler has no problem indexing this site either. so the problem has to be related to Bing.

I continue to do the basic requirements of building a crawlable site. I work on my content first and foremost. I will not bend over backwards to make my page “Bing compatibile” because Bing has trouble with my blog or just simply doesn’t like it. It seems as if the writing is on the wall that Bing will be a failure unless they do something to fix the issues with their crawler. It is pretty bad that Ask.com has a better crawler and index then Bing does.

Just gover take a look at the Bing community forum to see all the issues they are having with people either not getting indexed or getting removed from the index. Its insane that a search engine like Bing is having this much trouble so early in its lifetime. At first I thought the problems people were having was something simple, until I noticed pages on my blog began disappearing, and now my site is gone it seems from Bing for no reason at all.

In this bloggers opinion, bing is irrelvent and can’t be taken seriously. I wouldn’t even consider bing a real search engine until they fix this issue. A webmaster would be better off concentrating on Google, Yahoo(until Bing takes over Yahoo), and Ask in the meantime and just forget about Bing. It is not worth the frustration to worry about honing your site for Bing considering Google is the top dog, a much better search engine, and will be the #1 guy for a very long time into the future.

This is a complete diaster that all the marketing Ms puts into Bing and this is the result, and all the half-baked answers you hear from the Bing support team over at the Bing community just continues to show this complete diaster that is Bing.

This blogger is seriously upset that Bing can’t even get a simple index right…how sad really, as I had high hopes for Bing.

Microsoft please fix Bing!

Agreed Bing does suck but it is all down to the stupidity of their indexing, and it isn’t targeted at blogs alone, it’s everyone.

Bing have taken the root that in order to get listed your domain name needs to be around a while, so new websites are in trouble, and you must already have in place loads of back links, hundreds in fact. They will however list your main index page regardless; well at least that is supposed to be the plan. You can follow their guidelines to a tee and take onboard the advice of their staff but it doesn’t help.

Adding new pages to your site and getting those indexed is just as painful an experience as again they expect each page to have tonnes of back links in place even though they are new pages.

They’re acting as if they are the biggest kid on the block but they are pretty insignificant at the moment and this is growing worse as they alienate website owners – if you can’t even get listed then you’re even less likely to use it or recommend it to others.

Their current indexing policy is a joke and is backfiring on them, but they are making excuses for it. Eventually someone at Microsoft may see the stupidity of their indexing policy and the serious damage it is doing to the reputation of Bing and do something about it – or maybe they are just making excuses for it whilst they sort out all the problems. In any case Microsoft will do well to remember that you only get one chance to make a first impression.

As for me I’m on Bing, although my new pages haven’t made it yet, so I’m sticking with dependable Google. Traffic from Bing is so small that it isn’t currently worth the hassle, as long as I do what Google requires Bing will eventually include my new pages.

I agree with both the article and comments. Bing is a disaster for webmasters and the more Microsoft denies it has created a technological joke, the further irrelevant they become. I have given a lot of money to Microsoft over the years for servers, databases, operating systems and development software. I will not give Microsoft any more money than I need to and have started migrating to open source software for some servers and databases. When ‘bing’ issues are brought to the attention of Microsoft support, their answers are insulting as they blame webmasters and insinuate they have a lack of technical knowledge, when most people asking the questions have been doing development work longer than they have been around. In short they are in total denial that they developed a failed project.
