How CommentLuv and Dofollow links can help your blog
I have recently changed this blog from a no follow blog to a do follow blog. I have also added CommentLuv. The reasons I have done this is because I want to reward those who comment on my blog with a free backlink. It seems today, that everyone wants their blog to be no follow, and no one wants to link to anyone just because of what Google dictates. I have said it before, and I will say it again. A person should create and tailor their blog to their readers, and not to the whims of some search engine.
I believe that CommentLuv and Do follow links can greatly increase your readership, and it encourage users to leave meaningful comments on your blog posts. I think the readership and meaningful comments are much more important to your overall SEO then anything else. What is the point of SEO if it penalizes your readers? I want my blog to have active participation, and the more the better. I also want to share the link juice with my readers as my way of saying thank you for commenting on my blog.
I firmly believe the overall goals of the internet is to link and share useful and meaningful information. The no follow premise actually goes against these terms and penalizes the honest reader who is not a spammer. I can understand the whole premise around the no follow ideology as a way to combat link spam, however, using captcha’s and the askimet service along with good comment moderation will go very far in eliminating most of the spam that plagues many blogs.
By making your blog Do follow and adding CommentLuv or the like, you are encouraging your readers to link to you and participate in your blog. This is the single most important goal one should have for their blog. I don’t think anyone wants to have a blog where no one comments on it. What would be the point of that in the grand scheme of things?
There is a WordPress Plugin called Do Follow that will change all the comments on your blog from No follow to Do Follow.
The Do follow plug-in can be combined with the CommentLuv plugin will allow your readers to post comments on your blog with the link to their latest blog posts, etc with do follow links and help your readers as well as yourself. This also gives you the ability to find interesting blogs that you may wish to read and comment on as well which will help the overall blogosphere in finding, and talking about all the latest and greatest things going on. It is a win-win situation for both yourself and your readers.
So please feel free to comment away on my blog and show your CommentLuv
take care everyone. I hope this blog post helps you in your SEO goals
thanks again to everyone for their continued support.
Update March 7th, 2010
Due to unforseen circumstances, this blog is no longer a dofollow blog. I am sorry, but I simply do not have the resources to deal with the amount of spam I have been receiving. I implemented automated spam checking services, and also using captcha’s, and the amount of spam I was receiving was just simply overwhelming. I am only one person, and I just simply do not have the resources to deal with that amount of spam on a regular basis.
I am sorry to those who have links on here, but the links on this blog are now nofollow. Due to so many useless comments that were submitted over the last few months that had absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with the content of the post topic left me no choice. It seems people were actually filling out the captcha and then submitting useless posts that made no sense whatsoever.
However, The content of this post still applies, and If I had the resources to deal with such spam, this blog would still be a dofollow blog. however, since that is not the case anymore, It will not be.
I still wish to thank you for your continued support.

To make your blog do follow or not is personal preference, I just wanted to put the information out there for people to know another way to reward their readers. thanks for your comment!
Commentluv is a very good incentive for readers to make comments on your blog, as for making your blog “do follow” it’s true that it’s all personal preference, if you can handle a few spam comments then its totally fine, you just have to be on top of your comment moderating.
Commentluv seems really cool. I’ve seen that some blogs also use Keyword luv, which allows people to use their name and add a keyword for their posts. I’ve wondered how it works without keywordluv. The anchor text to our website will be our name, as opposed to our Keywords. And the latest blog post that follows won’t receive any benefit from google, from what I’ve read. In any event, I’m testing commentluv and dofollow out too. I hope to get to the bottom of those questions soon.
people went to nofollow from dofollow because they’re following orders from the big G. my site is not using commentluv either since i’m glued with disqus comment system. great read actually!
I recently changed my blog from nofollow to dofollow as well, though I haven’t installed the keyword luv plugin yet. I don’t mind giving people a free backlink if they are going to leave a useful or otherwise interesting comment. Akismet seems to have filtered out the spam comments I have had so far, and it looks as though it is serving its purpose for you too!

Thats great Everything SEO. I think more people need to have their blogs as Dofollow. I think many worry too much about Google Pagerank and the Big G. Askimet does a great job filtering spam now, and I have seen a good results so far with Dofollow + CommentLuv. It encourages your readers to leave genuine comments and I think that is a plus regardless.
thanks for the comments
More bloggers should feel the way you do about DoFollow Comments. I wish this were true, but I hope that as comment filtering gets more advanced, more bloggers will be willing to allow Dofollow comments.
Interesting article. Were did you got all the information from…

@Jon Ritchie I did a lot of research on this subject as well as observed other blogs doing this as well. It is well known that Google counts Dofollow comments, but most blogs are nofollow so it defeats the purpose. while it fights spam, it hurt the honest folks so i decided to go another route by doing DoFollow links + CommentLuv + Keyword Luv..I have Askimet and Recaptcha on here and moderate all comments so it is working out good so far.
I agree that only by giving something (a linkback) can you expect something in return (people commenting on your site).

Thanks, and your welcome. I keep this blog dofollow and I am completely honest about that. I want to encourage my readers to participate, and I have no problem returning the love. Thanks for the comments.
Creating back links from commenting is a great tool. The best way to find these are to go an use googles operator for example: In the google search box enter the following: intext:”powered by wordpress” AND “KeywordLuv” OR “CommentLuv” this will pull out all blogs that provide the plugin and to filter out non blogs we incorporate the “powered by wordpress”
