Has Google Adsense Advertising Gotten Out of Control?
As many people may or may not have noticed, The internet is just filled anymore with annoying advertisements. It seems like almost every web site a person visits they are bombarded with advertisements. I understand people want to make a few bucks, however, does EVERYONE have to use Google Ads? It seems like 95% of internet advertising is done with 3rd party ad servers. why not just work out your own ad deals for your web site or blog?
Have you ever sat back and thought? How much money does Google get per click?
Yes think about this for a moment. If your getting say 7 cents for a click on a keyword advertisement, what is Google getting? Google may be getting $1.00 per click, perhaps $2.00. Google never tells you how much they are getting out of it. I’d say it Looks like they are getting pretty cheap employment to me. They get to put ads all over your site, and they reap all the rewards of your hard work as webmaster. If your lucky they will throw a few cents at you. That just sounds grand eh?
Also, another thing to consider is when using Google Adsense is their Terms and Conditions. I will say those terms and conditions are just downright Draconian, and quite frankly I will never agree to them. In laymen s terms, Google decides what your allowed to put on your site or not, and if you put something on your site Google don’t like what happens? They ban your Adsense account and take all the earnings you may have had. I think that is just grand!(not!) There is however one instance when a banned Adsense Publisher took Google to Small Claims Court and won the 721 dollars that Google owed him after deleting his Adsense Account. He later lost an appeal, and thus his 721 dollars.
One last thing to think about is the vast amounts of information Google is collecting about web visitors. Adsense in combination with Google Analytics is data store of information on web trends and aggregate internet marketing data. This data is probably be used by internet marketers and/or Google to create profiles of internet users. Even though they state it can’t be used to identify you personally, it can be used to serve you advertisements that are tailored to your surfing habits. Thus Google may not know who you are, but they sure know what sites you visit and what you like. I think that is scary in itself.
Microsoft Bing and Yahoo, with its Yahoo Publisher Network, are trying to whittle away at Google dominance not only in search, but advertising. Yahoo would have the best chance with its Ad Network based on its own plus what it acquired from Overture. I will say that Microsoft and Yahoo will have an extremely tough uphill battle ahead of them because Google is fairly entrenched right now in this market, and it will be hard to gain any ground on them.
The bottom line is, a person can make more money selling Advertising space on their blog or web site on their own. Contact some of your local business or even big companies and offer them a flat rate. If you have a decent web site with good traffic, Page Rank, and decent amount of views per month then it could work. However, making money from this blog is not my goal at the moment.
